Government Botanical Garden

Established in 1848, the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty spans over 55 acres on the slopes of Doddabetta Peak. Managed by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department, the garden is divided into several sections, including the Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace, and Nurseries. It houses around a thousand species of plants, including rare trees like the paper bark tree and the monkey puzzle tree. A major attraction is the fossilized tree trunk estimated to be 20 million years old.
