    About Koonthankulam Bird Sanctuary

    Koonthakulamkulam Bird Sanctuary is a haven for bird enthusiasts, hosting over 100 species of native and migratory birds. The sanctuary covers an area of 72 acres and is centered around a large water tank. During the migratory season (December to March), thousands of birds from as far as Siberia and Northern Europe visit the sanctuary. Some of the prominent species spotted here include painted stork, white ibis, black ibis, open-billed stork, darter, spoonbill, and various types of herons and egrets.
