About Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal
Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal was built in 1636 CE by King Thirumalai Nayak, one of the most notable rulers of the Nayak dynasty. Located in the heart of Madurai, the palace features massive white pillars, beautiful arches, and intricate stucco work. It once served as the king’s residence and is a classic example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The palace is especially popular for its evening sound and light show narrating the story of Silappathikaram.
